On Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 5 p.m., police responded to a call for a robbery at a jewelry store  Ishwar Jewellers  in the Islington Avenue/Albion Road area.

It is reported that:

– five men walked into a jewelry store armed with sledgehammers

– the suspects smashed several jewelry display counters

– the suspects placed jewelry trays in large pop-up laundry hampers

– the suspects stole jewelry valued at $500,000

– the suspects fled the scene in a dark older mini-van, leaving two sledgehammers behind

The sledgehammers are described as 6 lb., Garant Grizzley.
