Adam Mayes, the alleged kidnapper of Tennessee mother and daughters probably believes that the two missing girls are his. Recently, Jo Ann Bain went missing with her three daughters. Police found the body of Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, but the two younger ones are still missing.
Josie Tate, the suspect’s mother-in-law, said: “The reason they were arguing so much was because there was two little girls that he was just absolutely obsessed with. He was claiming that those two children were his.”
Mayes and his wife, Teresa, each have been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. The mother, Mary Frances Mayes, has been charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.
According to Teresa Mayes, her husband was planning to take Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8, from their home in Hardeman County, near Memphis.
“We wish someone would call and help us,” FBI spokesman Joel Siskovic said Thursday. “At this point, this guy doesn’t want to be found, and we’re out there trying to find him.”
The FBI has added Adam Mayes to its 10 most wanted criminals and offered $100,000 for anyone who provides them with information leading to arrest.
“There has been a lot of information that has come to light, and we want to make sure these girls are not brought to further risk. All of these details are coming in and going into the investigative picture,” Siskovic said.
Pictures of Adam Mayes have been released. He is described as a white man with blue eyes and brown hair. He weighs 175 pounds and is 6 feet 3 inches tall.
