The body of a 60-year-old man who was last seen on the afternoon of June 22, 2012, has been discovered in a wooded area, less than a kilometre from his residence, where searchers had been looking.
The man was reported missing to police late on June 25, which resulted in a ground search being initiated on the morning of June 26. His body was discovered by search volunteers just after 3:30 p.m. on June 26.
At this point, foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
Volunteer search and rescue members from River Valley Ground Search and Rescue (Saint John), York Sunbury Search and Rescue (Fredericton), Charlotte County Ground Search and Rescue (St. Stephen) and Oak Bay Fire Department members were all involved in the search.
The investigation is continuing.
