The body of a 22-year-old man was recovered this morning from a local swimming area in Musquash by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Teams from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia .

On July 11, 2012, at approximately 5:40 p.m., District 1 RCMP responded to a report in the Musquash area of a man who jumped into the water and did not resurface.

A 22-year-old man from Nigeria, attending university in Saint John, jumped into the water at a local swimming area known as the 'gorge'. He was there with friends and witnesses say the man jumped into the water from a road bridge approximately 10 meters high but failed to resurface after entering the water.

District 1 RCMP continue to investigate this suspected drowning. Foul play is not suspected at this time. The name of the victim is not being released at this time until the family has been properly notified.

Several emergency agencies assisted the RCMP with this search including Musquash Fire-Rescue and Ambulance New Brunswick.
