The Calgary Police Service has charged a man following a three-year Homicide Unit investigation into the death of Laura Furlan.

On September 7, 2012, police arrested a 38-year-old man and charged him with manslaughter and indignity to a human body.

Furlan’s body was discovered in Fish Creek Park on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009. While her death had been deemed suspicious for three years, police have now determined she was the victim of a homicide.

It’s believed Furlan, who was leading a high-risk lifestyle, met the accused several hours prior to her disappearance on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009. At some point during the evening, it is alleged Furlan was killed and her body dumped in Fish Creek Park.

Christopher Dunlop, of Calgary, was taken into custody without incident, and early this morning was formally charged with the offences.
