Vancouver pedestrian woman dies in a traffic fatality

Vancouver has recorded its 12th traffic fatality of 2012. Vancouver Police are investigating the death of a 43 year old woman.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., a northbound transit bus was involved in a collision with a pedestrian at the intersection of Main and Terminal.  The pedestrian died at the scene from her injuries. Police are withholding the identity of the woman pending notification of her next-of-kin.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is currently speaking with witnesses.  The VPD Victim Services Unit is also providing assistance. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area for the next several hours as investigators determine the cause of the accident. 

Northbound traffic on Main Street has been blocked at 2nd Avenue and westbound traffic on Terminal is being re-routed onto Station Street.
