Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6800 block of Airport Boulevard about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 19).
The female victim, 29, of Houston, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kung and Senior Police Officer A. Sampson reported:
The victim was driving a gold Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on Airport Blvd. at Kopman when she struck the trailer of a blue Kenworth 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler, traveling northbound on Kopman, had come to a stop at the intersection and was attempting to turn westbound onto Airport when the victim, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear portion of the trailer. The investigation is continuing.
