The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an investigation into an attempted abduction of a child.
On Saturday, September 22, 2012, at approximately 10:17 a.m., it is alleged that:
-a two-year-old girl was riding her bicycle, with her father walking alongside her, at Millwood Park, near Mill Road/Bloor Street West
– the accused drove up to the girl, stopped his car and and began yelling explicit comments to the girl as he approached her, his arms extended
– the girl’s father intervened and was helped by citizens to restrain the man until police arrived
David Briggs, 46, of Missisauga, is charged with:
1. Attempted Abduction of a Person Under 14
2. Sexual Assault
3. Invitation to Sexual Touching
4. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
5. Possession of Cocaine
6. Possession of a Controlled Substance
He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Police believe there may be more victims.
