This year’s 23rd homicide of Montreal was reported from Montreal Island. The initial report stated that a gunshot victim was seen unconscious by a person walking by in the parking lot of the Beaurepaire train station in Beaconsfield. The body of 29-year-old man was called in on the emergency service sometime before 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The victim was quickly shifted to the hospital where he could not make it and died shortly afterwards.
Next Monday morning, Constable Daniel Lacoursière declared to the press that the departed was identified and “known (to police) as a street-gang member and also as a drug trafficker.” She also confirmed that “the man was shot.” She refused to disclose the identity of the deceased publicly. It was observed that officers had expanded the search perimeter in the morning and began searching for clues leading to solve the case.
Stéphane Smith, the spokesperson for the emergency ambulance service, Urgences Santé, stated that the victim already had “major trauma about the head and upper chest” before arrival. Upon inquiry Smith said that the type of weapon was too difficult to conclude from the injuries caused at the time.
The Crime Investigation units reached the cordoned off area, at the commuter parking lot near the Beaurepaire Drive and Woodland Ave., at almost 5:30 a.m. Soon the crime scene was flooded with four official police vehicles along with two large crime-investigation mobile command posts.
Quebec coroner’s office was approached at 8:30 a.m., when the representative named Nathalie Swindon replied that she is not at liberty to provide the name of the deceased.
