Calgary Police was called by an unusual emergency call this Sunday as a woman claimed to have been groped and sexually assaulted by a naked man riding a bicycle in public at the southwest community of Cedarbrae. It was reported that the attack took place on Sunday night near Oakfield Drive and 30 St. S.W.
The victim filed the incident report claiming that she was only striding on the street in the passenger lane when a naked man tackled her to ground and the groped her. She claimed that she quickly resented the action and attempted to fight him off as he hastily got on his bicycle and rushed again.
The officer heading the investigation, Sgt. Kevin Brookwell, said that “we’ll look at people that match that description in the neighbourhood; probably somebody that lives close by. We’re also going to look at the possibility of some sobriety or mental health issues.” The suspect is being search on the criteria of a white male of roughly 35-40 years of age and 250 lbs (113 kg) weight with short hair. The culprit was seen to have been riding a dark coloured bicycle.
The duty inspector at the time, Paul Stacey, described the event in his words by saying that “he got off his bike, groped her, and she kicked him.” He further added that “after she kicked him, he picked up his bike and took off on Oakfield Drive.” Stacy also stated that the victim has raised a suspicion that the man was most likely drunk or might have had a mental issue. Paul declared that since there have been no witnesses of the event and police does not have any leads as yet, the detectives will continue the case by searching the nearby businesses to verify if there is a positive surveillance video that recorded the incident.
