Edmonton man Zachary Holland charged with attempted murder

A man arrestable on Canada-wide warrants for attempted murder, aggravated assault and arson is being brought back to Edmonton today, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, after being arrested in British Columbia.

Zachary Holland, 25, of Edmonton, was arrested earlier this week by Nanaimo RCMP for an unrelated matter. After further investigation, the RCMP discovered the outstanding Canada-wide warrants on Holland. 

Holland is charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, arson to property andfour counts of arson causing bodily harm in connection to an apartment fire at 99 Street and 86 Avenue on Sunday, July 8, 2012. The building is currently under repair.

At the time charges were filed, Holland was out on bail for numerous criminal charges related to a separate incident that occurred in March 2012.

A bail hearing for Holland may be held later today.
