The Hamilton Police Service Victims of Crime Unit has arrested a 70 yr old Hamilton man and charged him with Sexual assault after investigating an alleged assault at a Stoney Creek neighbourhood park.
On October 2nd, 2012, the Hamilton Police Service received a report of an alleged sexual offence involving a 70 yr. old man and a young girl.
The investigation was forwarded to the Child Abuse Branch for further investigation. Investigators worked with Hamilton Police Service Crime Analysis Co-coordinator and the Division Two Seniors Support Officer and after investigation are alleging that the accused, Ronald Delong, sexually assaulted the victim between July 1st, 2012 – August 31st, 2012. The alleged assaults occurred at Ferris Park on Lynwood Dr. in Stoney Creek.
Ronald Delong was arrested on October 16th, 2012 and was held for a bail hearing.
Delong is known to frequent other parks in the area and there is a possibility that there may be further victims.
