A brutal car crash took place last night on the Lions Gate Bridge, which resulted in the death of two young men along with several more injuries. The police department of West Vancouver has shown suspicion that speed might have been the key factor of the incident.

The spokesperson of the West Vancouver police, Corp. Fred Harding, confirmed the death of the two men, aged 20 and 21, after the car crashed into a transit bus carrying 15 passengers on board. The two young men began their journey northbound in a Mazda just before midnight, when their car unfortunately spun in the opposite southbound lane and crashed into a bus with a head-on collision. BC Ambulance confirmed to have transported three people with minor injuries to Vancouver General Hospital and two people with serious injuries to the Lions Gate Hospital.

Harding reported that one of the two young men passed away at the scene while the other died on the way to hospital. He stated that speed was “definitely a factor in the crash.” Harding further explained that early investigation does not suggest any use of alcohol, but it will be final once the investigation is complete. The incident is also being investigated by the coroner to find out the cause of death. Harding asserted that families of the victims are being notified so their names could not be released publicly. The Lions Gate Bridge was kept close for several hours due to the crash, but it has now been cleared by the crew for the busy morning rush hour.
