On Wednesday, January 2, 2013, the Toronto Fugitive Squad arrested Leonard Nwafor at his residence on an Extradition Warrant.

He was wanted by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) in Los Angeles, California. He was charged with a number of Medicare-fraud-related crimes.

– he failed to show for his sentencing hearing but instead fled to Canada to evade justice

– he is considered one of the top 10 most wanted with the USPIS and the Office of Inspector General – U.S. Department of Health & Human Services

In August 2012, the Toronto Fugitive Squad was contacted by the United States Marshals Service (USMS), requesting assistance locating and arresting Leonard Nwafor.

In December 2012, the USMS proceeded to obtain an extradition warrant to apprehend Leonard Nwafor.
