As a result of an on-going investigation by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Vice Unit and ICE Unit, officers executed a search warrant in July 2012 at a residence in the Tuxedo area of the city. During the search, electronic recording devices and laptops were seized from the home.
Since that time, members of the ICE Unit completed an extensive forensic search of the devices seized, subsequently locating a variety of images involving child pornography.
On January 15, 2013, members of the Vice Unit made contact with 43 year old, Darrell Erwin Ackman and charged him with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
Make/Print/Publish Child Pornography x 2
Possessing Child Pornography x 2
Living on Avails of Prostitution x 3
He has been detained.
