9-Year-Old Gunshot Victim of Brampton Passes Away

A 9-year-old gunshot victim, suffered a bullet in Brampton on Wednesday night, passed away in the hospital today. A spokesperson of Peel Regional Police, Const. Thomas Ruttan, confirmed that the incident took place at 51 Ardglen Dr., a townhouse near Kennedy Rd. S. and Clarence St., around 10:30 p.m.

Ruttan mentioned that “It is an active investigation,” while referring that the investigators present at the crime scene are attempting to piece together the sequence of events. Insp. Rob Higgs alleged that “there were immediate family members in the home at the time.” Whereas, Ruttan added that “at this point, a very devastating time for a family.” The search of evidence is taking place under the supervisory of Criminal Investigation Bureau, which continued the search till early morning of Thursday morning. The police has already searched the entire neighborhood, on their behalf, with the help of tactical teams and a canine unit. Ruttan claims that “at this point we’re just trying to determine what’s taken place and who’s responsible.”

Ruttan further mentioned that, upon the arrival of police at Ardglen Dr., a taxi in the area was taken in custody along with its passengers and driver for questioning. Although it is not clarified, as yet, whether the taxi passengers are suspected to be involvedi n the incident. The crime scene, i.e. where the road meets Clarence St. at the east end, is surrounded by two plazas mainly consisting of convenience stores, a bakery, a Caribbean takeout and salons. While Sir Winston Churchill Public School, where the boy attended school, is located on the west end of the street.
