One of the Ontario Liberal Party leadership contenders, Charles Sousa, is soon excepted to be crowned as a top minister of soon-to-be Premiere Kathleen Wynne. Sousa played a vital role during elections by supporting Wynne on Saturday, which potentially helped her win against the next best candidate,  Sandra Pupatello, in the bid to succeed Premier Dalton McGuinty to become Ontario’s first female premier.

Mississauga South MPP, Charles Sousa, commented on the incident on Sunday, saying that “Kathleen and I complement one another.” He added that “it’s important for us to have a party and a government that … is balanced in its approach.” Sousa was inquired if he will be willing to serve as Wynne’s finance minister, since he is a former executive of Royal Bank of Canada, in case he was offered. He replied that “I will do as I’m told by our premier-designate because I’m faithful to the province.” Sousa explained that he could not allege his support for Pupatello, because the former Windsor West MPP did not hold a seat as she stepped down before the October 2011 election.

Hoskins, a much anticipated choice for education minister, also attributed the same reason when he mentioned that “Sandra’s great, she’d be a great leader, but there was the drawback that she wasn’t in the house, there was a drawback that we’d have to go for a byelection and there was a drawback that we’d still be talking politics and I want to be talking about governing.”
