Heavy rain, flooding closes highways in Medicine Hat area

Motorists are advised that heavy rain and flooding is disrupting travel on Medicine Hat-area highways.

Highway 1 is closed between Medicine Hat and the Saskatchewan border. Eastbound vehicles are being stopped at the Highway 41 junction near Dunmore and rerouted back westbound.

Highway 41 is closed from its junction with Highway 1 near Irvine to the United States border at Wild Horse. Vehicles are being stopped at the Highway 1 junction and the border crossing.

The closures will be in effect until further notice. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes or avoid travelling in these areas.

Further advisories will be issued as conditions change.
