Heavy rain, flooding disrupts highway travel in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Motorists are advised that heavy rain and flooding is disrupting highway travel in southeast Alberta and southwest Saskatchewan.

In Alberta, Highway 1 is closed between Medicine Hat and the Saskatchewan border. Eastbound vehicles are being stopped at the Highway 41 junction near Dunmore. Highway 41 is closed from its junction with Highway 1 near Irvine to the United States border at Wild Horse. Vehicles are being stopped at the Highway 1 junction and the border crossing.

In Saskatchewan, Highway 1 is closed from the Alberta border to the junction with Highway 21 near Maple Creek.

The closures will be in effect until further notice.

Motorists wishing to continue eastbound into Saskatchewan are being detoured onto northbound Highway 41 to eastbound Highway 9 that connects to Saskatchewan Highway 7. Motorists wishing to continue westbound into Alberta are being detoured northbound onto Saskatchewan Highway 4 to westbound Highway 7 that connects to Alberta Highway 9.
