The Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, has boarded on a plane for London on early Tuesday morning in order to attend the funeral of former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, who passed away last week at the age of 87. The Canadian delegation includes former Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird, MP for London-West, Ed Holder, along with Harper’s wife, Laureen.
Among other important personalities attending the funeral at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday is Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Even though it is not a state funeral, the service will include full military honours. On the other hand, the lists of VIPs who will not attending the funeral are just as notable, including Former United States first lady, Nancy Reagan, and former Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev. Furthermore, former U.S. presidents, Bill Clinton George Bush, will also fail to attend the funeral. The VIPs in attendance at the funeral include British Prime Minister, David Cameron, Former prime ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and John Major, Former South African president, F.W. de Klerk, Prince Pavlos and Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, and former president, Lech Walesa, and many more.
The security in the city of London is anticipated to be kept extremely tight and on utter high alert to due to the presence of so many VIPs and the recent bombings at the Boston Marathon, which consumed three lives, including an eight-year-old boy, and injured more than 170. A report claims that more than 4,000 police officers will be on duty for the service.
