Andrew Gregory Ealy Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the death of a man at 500 Rusk about 12:40 a.m. today.

The suspect, Andrew Gregory Ealy (b/m, DOB: 1-27-91), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. A recent photo of Ealy is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 32, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Officer J. Rexroad reported:

The victim and Ealy were gathered at a makeshift homeless camp under the bridge at the above address. Witnesses stated the two men began arguing over drugs and then began to shove each other. The witnesses separated them and Ealy left the area. A short time later, Ealy returned and began verbally and physically arguing with the victim until witnesses once again separated them. Ealy then picked up a brick and struck the victim in the head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Ealy fled on foot.

Further investigation led to Ealy’s whereabouts and he was arrested about 10:50 a.m. today at 1300 Capitol without incident.
