The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday evening in the upper parking lot at Londonderry Mall.

Patrol members responded to a call of shots fired at the Northeast Edmonton shopping mall, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013.  Upon arrival, police found witnesses providing CPR to a male victim in his mid-20s.

“Witness accounts suggest there were multiple shots fired, and with many people leaving the shopping mall at that time, we’re very fortunate there weren’t more casualties,” said EPS Duty Officer Erik Johnson.

Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation.
