Three Calgary men charged with conspiracy to commit murder

The Calgary Police Service has charged three men with conspiring to commit murder in connection with a gang-related rivalry.

 

In September 2012, officers initiated an investigation into a plot to kill a Calgary man.

 

The trio is alleged to have conspired to kill another man, who is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence for an unrelated shooting. All four are known to the CPS Guns and Gangs Unit.

 

As a result of the investigation, three Calgary men were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2013, and are now facing charges in connection with the plan.

 

Trong Minh Nguyen, 29, was arrested in Saskatoon with the assistance of the Saskatoon Police Service and has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

 

Henry Le Nguyen, 26, was arrested in Calgary and is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

 

Byran James Balla, 26, was arrested in Calgary and is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

 

All three accused have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on Friday, May 3, 2013.

 

In addition to the conspiracy charges, Henry Nguyen faces charges in relation to a public safety warrant executed at a residence in southwest Calgary.

 

During the warrant, officers seized various amounts of marijuana and cocaine, cash, cellphones, a loaded .38-calibre handgun, ammunition, knives and a machete. Henry Nguyen is also charged with numerous drug and weapons-related offences.

 

A woman who was at home at the time of the warrant, Linh Duy Chau, 23, of Calgary, is also charged with numerous drug and weapons-related offences. Chau is not connected to the conspiracy to commit murder investigation.
