The coordination between authorities, including Longmont police, the FBI and Brandon Police, is still underway after the Canadian authorities made an important arrest of an American fugitive and kidnap suspect on Sunday. Longmont police Cmdr., Jeff Satur, assured that all the authorities are expected to remain in sync until Monday morning, when the allegedly kidnapped 3-year-old boy is expected to be reunited with his mother.
It was reported that 51-year-old Monty Turner was arrested without any complication at the Casablanca Motor Lodge in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, on Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. Local authorities report that the 3-year-old’s father kidnaped the kid from his Longmont home at 10:07 a.m. on Saturday after using a stun gun and pepper spray on his estranged wife, Brandy Turner. Monty Turner was arrested in Canada on suspicion of kidnapping, assault and burglary. Satur explained that Brandon police investigators have interviewed the suspect regarding the alleged kidnapping and will soon be sharing the information with the FBI and Longmont police.
Monty Turner’s father, Ronald Turner, is also suspected to have assisted him in the kidnapping, and hence was arrested on charges of complicity to commit second-degree kidnapping. Consequently, he currently remains jailed in Bates County, Mo., i.e. from where he was arrested. Boulder County prosecutors are already working to extradite both Monty and Ronald Turner. The Brandon Police Service has alleged to have been coordinating with the federal Department of Justice, Manitoba Justice, the Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. authorities Satur confirmed that the earliest Luke is expected to return home is Monday evening.
