On Thursday, May 23, 2013, police were called by a local hospital regarding a woman who had given birth and the whereabouts of the infant were unknown.

Based on the results of the initial investigation, the Homicide Squad was notified and took carriage of the investigation.

On Friday, May 24, 2013, evidence obtained through the investigation has resulted in the arrest of the woman in relation to the death of her newborn infant.

Angelica Spanidis, 25, of Toronto, is charged with First-Degree Murder. She appeared in court at College Park on Monday, May 27, 2013.

The body of the newborn has yet to be recovered.
