The Mountie in charge of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s personal security detail, RCMP Supt. Bruno Saccomani, has claimed that he is being victimized by an orchestrated “vendetta” from those opposing his tough leadership style, alleging that the investigation into his management seems to be rather an unfair “witch hunt” to him. Several documents leaked to the media show that Mr. Saccomani is prepared to respond fully to the internal complaints alleging that he created an improper workplace environment while attempting to improve work standards in recent years.

Mr. Saccomani has hired a lawyer, Peter Mantas, to represent him after the police acquired a contracted an outside consulting firm to investigate whether workplace safety rules were infringed under the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Ottawa lawyer has submitted an official response to the consultant hired by the RCMP, saying that “we are concerned that this process has been crafted to discredit and embarrass our client, that it is the product of a vendetta, and the outcome is a foregone conclusion.” He added that “as we learn more about this process, it begins to resemble an inquisition, rather than an investigation.”

Saccomani is deemed to be a close personality to Harper, and is anticipated to soon be appointed as Canada’s next ambassador to Jordan though an official announcement has yet to be made. Mantas has reported the consultant that Saccomani “does not intend to provide a written response to the unfair, slanted and biased allegations directed at him.”
