The Medical Officer of Health in Hamilton has officially issued a heat advisory in light of the bolstering temperatures forecasted in the coming week that are expected to surpass 33 plus humidex. Environment Canada forecasted that Monday’s temperature will leap as high as 33, with a 30 per cent likelihood of thunderstorms later in the day. Meanwhile, UV index is also expected at a very high 10, while the humidex is anticipated to make it feel like the high 30s or 40s. It was announced that in case the forecast of humidex surpasses 40, the city will be officially issuing a health warning like already done by Halton and Niagara.

According to the detailed forecast of the week predicted by Environment Canada, it can be observed that there are no chances of relief during the week as temperatures are anticipated to remain at 33 on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Friday will be no less than 30 also. Moreover, the possibility of rain and overnight low temperatures of 20s is also forecasted throughout the week. However, the temperature is anticipated to cool off a little to 25 on Saturday and 24 on Sunday.

The warning issued by the city’s health department cautions residents that the amalgamation of temperature and humidity has the ability of spoiling the cooling effect of sweating, which in return considerably increases the risk of heat-related illness. Special care is advised to those who are elderly, have chronic illnesses or mobility problems or are taking certain medications are at greatest risk, along with infants, pre-school children and those exercising or working vigorously outdoors.
