Yarmouth RCMP are investigating a fishing accident that claimed the life of a local man yesterday.

Yesterday, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Yarmouth RCMP were notified of an accident on board a fishing boat. At approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning, the fishing vessel arrived in East Pubnico and was met by Yarmouth RCMP members.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Paul Vernon “Brex” Malone, 55, from Lower East Pubnico, fell from the spar and died as a result of his injuries. He was a crewman on the sword fishing boat called “Savana & Jax”.

The incident remains under investigation by the RCMP and the Nova Scotia Labour Board.  RCMP believe the death is not suspicious.
