Suspect Joseph Smith charged with capital murder in fatal shooting incident at 12703 Dairy Brook

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 12703 Dairy Brook about 6 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2012.

The suspect, Joseph Smith (w/m, DOB: 8-18-91), is charged with capital murder in the 228th State District Court. Smith is currently in the Harris County Jail on a charge of robbery.

The male victim, Hong Le, 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. McStravick and Senior Police Officer P. Vela reported:

HPD patrol officers investigating a separate incident were informed by witnesses there was a body in the backyard of a vacant duplex at the above address. The victim was found wearing only a single sock. A 1997 Honda Civic, believed to be related to the incident, was also found nearby.

Further investigation led to the identification of Smith as a suspect in this case, and on Monday (Aug. 12), he was charged in the killing Mr. Le.
