Police Confirms Death of 2 Teens in a Shooting in Toronto’s West End

Toronto Police has confirmed reports of two teen deaths in result of a shooting incident in the city’s west end on Friday. Police explained that the shooting took place at around 1:30 p.m. at a townhouse complex, near a small park, in the Jane Street and Grandravine Drive area. It was reported that 16-year-old O’She Doyles-Whyte was found dead at the scene, whereas 15-year-old Kwame Duodu was quickly shifted to a nearby hospital but he soon gave up to his injuries too. According to officers who first responded, eyewitness reported to have heard up sound of up to five shots.

Speaking about the incident, a resident in the neighbourhood, Alicia Bartholomew, alleged that “I heard a couple of shots which I thought were firecrackers so I didn’t really think anything of it. It’s when I heard the ambulance and when I heard a lady crying, that’s when I decided to look out my window and I saw a lot of people.”

News about the death of both really stunned residents in the community, majority of which were saddened and emphasized that Doyles-Whyte will be missed. A friend of the victim, Genesis Shaw-Ottey, stated that “he was an amazing person. There was not a day that went by that he didn’t text me or call me to make sure I was okay. He was always looking out for everyone else.” He added that “I felt so safe when I was around him. He was like my best friend.”
