Fatal crash in the 3200 block of Sandwich Street claims life of a Windsor motorcyclist

Windsor Police are continuing with their investigation today after a motorcycle accident yesterday claimed the life of a 48 year old city man.

On Sunday September 8, 2013 at approximately 9:50 a.m. Windsor Police responded to the area of Sandwich Street and Brock Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
 
Windsor Police arrived at the scene moments later in the 3200 block of Sandwich Street.  The police officer attending the scene discovered that the victim was pinned underneath his motorcycle.  The officer immediately called out to a crowd that had gathered; ” We have got to get this off of him”  Three unidentified men stepped forward and assisted the officer lift the motorcycle off of the victim. 
 
Windsor Fire and EMS attended the scene and the victim was transported by ambulance to hospital.  Several police units were used to assist escort ambulance to hospital by blocking intersections along the route. 
 
Police were notified shortly after 3:00 p.m. that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
 
The motorcycle was travelling West on Sandwich Street and left the roadway striking a light pole and concrete planter.
