The Naksup RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 77 year old Peter Arends who was reported missing by his wife at 8:30 pm on Thursday Sept 12th. Arends was last seen by his wife at approximately 8:00 am Thursday morning when he left to check a friend’s cabin near Halcyon Hot Springs then go mushroom picking. Peter has some health conditions that require daily medication, which he did not take with him and it is believed he was not prepared to spend the night outdooors. Search and Rescue was activated and searched a number of the known mushroom picking areas without success last evening and into the early morning hours. The search was suspended at approximately 2:30 am however has recommenced this morning with the assistance of the RCMP helicopter. Mr Arends is described as 6 ft 3 inches tall, weighing 240 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was driving a white 2005 Cheverolet crew cab pickup truck with BC Licence DF1768.
