On Monday August 2, 2010 at 11:53 p.m. the London Police Service and Thames Emergency Medical Services were detailed to 32 Barberry Court to investigate a report of a baby not breathing. Shortly after arrival, a seven week old baby boy was transported by paramedics to London Health Sciences Center where he remains with serious, life threatening injuries.

The London Police Service sought and obtained a Criminal Code search warrant and a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant for the aforementioned address. Upon executing the warrants police located and seized 1.2 grams of crack cocaine in the residence. In addition, during the police investigation it was learned that two occupants of the residence; a three year old and the seven week old were victims of assault. These assaults occurred previously and are unrelated to the ongoing investigation into the life threatening injuries sustained by the seven week old baby boy.

Police have issued warrants for the arrest of 21 year old, Rourke Desmanche, the father of the seven week old infant, for two counts of assault and one count of possession of crack cocaine. The police investigation is ongoing and police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the location of Rourke Desmanche or any potential witnesses. Desmanche is considered dangerous and members of the general public have NO AUTHORITY to detain him.
