Park Street woman Evelyn Peltier dies in a fire accident

On September 12, 2013, emergency crews responded to a structure fire on Park Street in Chatham.  The Chatham-Kent Fire Department battled the blaze and extinguished it.  One woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later transferred to a burn unit at a Hamilton Hospital with life threatening injuries. 

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management was contacted to investigate the fire. 
 
On October 2, 2013, Evelyn Peltier, 50 years, of Park Street in Chatham succumbed to the injuries she sustained as a result of the fire.
 
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is continuing to assist the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management with this investigation as the fire remains under investigation.
