Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have made an arrest, after two elderly victims were robbed on two separate occasions.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at approximately 4:54 pm, a 76 year-old female victim was entering her residence on Etude Drive in Mississauga. The suspect approached the victim, produced a knife and stole the victim’s purse.

The victim sustained minor cuts as a result of the robbery.

On Sunday, August 8, 2010, at approximately 12:10 pm, an 83 year-old male victim was outside his residence on Darcel Avenue in Mississauga. The suspect approached the victim, produced a replica firearm and stole the victim’s wallet.

The victim was pushed to the ground but did not sustain any injury.

On Tuesday, August 10, 2010, the suspect turned himself in to Peel Regional Police, 21 Division investigators.

Vladimir Hernandez, an 18 year-old male from Mississauga, has been charged with two counts of Robbery and one count of Use Stolen Credit Card. He was held for a bail hearing and will be making an appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.

The knife and firearm have both been recovered. Investigators believe the suspect acted alone and there is no further threat to the community.
