14 year old boy charged with sexual assault in Newmarket

Investigators working out of the York Regional Police Sexual Assault Bureau have arrested of a suspect wanted in connection with two separate Sexual Assaults that occurred in the Town of Newmarket.

On Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 8 p.m., a young female victim and her mother were walking in the area of Yonge Street and Bristol Road. At that time, the male suspect approached the two women from behind while riding a bicycle and as he passed them, inappropriately touched the teenage female on the buttocks and continued northbound.

Another similar incident occurred on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at approximately 1:15 p.m., whereby another female victim was walking in the same area. The male suspect rode past her on his bicycle and inappropriately touched her on the buttocks then rode off on his bicycle towards Yonge Street.

In both incidents the victims did not receive any physical injuries.
 
As a result of an investigation, a male suspect has been identified was arrested without incident on Thursday, August 12, 2010.

CHARGED:
• A 14-year-old-youth of Newmarket

CHARGES:
• Sexual Assault x 2

The youth has been held in custody and will appear sometime today before the Youth Justice Court in Newmarket for a bail hearing.
