On February 14, 2010, at approximately 1:20 am, Ottawa Police responded to a call for a home invasion in the 0-100 block of Deerfield Drive. Approximately 3 male suspects and 1 female suspect made their way into a residence at which time one of the male suspects threatened the tenants with a shotgun. The suspects later made off with numerous items from the residence. The four victims (2 female and 2 male) did not suffer any injuries as a result of this incident.
As a result of the investigation, Richard Ellis, a 25-year-old male of Ottawa (and known member of the Bloods Street Gang), is charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:
• Robbery x 4 counts
• Forcible Confinement x 4 counts
• Pointing a Firearm x 4 counts
• Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order x 2 counts
• Unlawfully in a dwelling house x 1 count
• Possession of a weapon x 1 count
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 1 count
• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x 1 count
The remaining three suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1 is described as an English speaking white male, 20-24 years-old, 5’10-6’(178 cm to 183cm), with a muscular build.
Suspect #2 is described as a male with a medium build. No other description is available.
Suspect #3 is described as a black female, 18-25-years-old, 5’5(165 cm), with a medium build, dark complexion and dark hair.
The investigation is ongoing.
