Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7000 South Hall about noon on Thursday (Oct. 31).

The victim, Farooq Khanani, 54, of Sugarland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Murdock and Officer C. Cardenas reported:

Mr. Khanani pulled into the parking lot of his store at 8103 Homestead.  According to witnesses, a dark-colored or black older model four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300, was seen following Khanani down Homestead and into the parking lot of the store.  A short time later, Khanani fled the location in his vehicle after being shot several times in the parking lot.  Khanani then crashed his vehicle a short distance from the location.

Further investigation determined Khanani appeared to have been followed from his bank on the southwest side of Houston with a large sum of money.
