Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 4565 Griggs about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 30.

Suspect Alton Romond Jackson (b/m, DOB: 9-17-79) is charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court.  A photo of Jackson is not available at this time, pending further investigation.

The deceased victim, Cheun-Wei Mah, 49, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The second male victim, Victor Mah, 46, suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. L. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer P. Vela reported:

An unknown black male suspect entered the Mah Express restaurant at the above address and placed an order for food.  The suspect then pulled out a gun, fired at least twice into the kitchen and demanded money from all of the employees.  The suspect then fired shots at Victor Mah and Cheun-Wei Mah.  Victor Mah was struck in the hip.  Cheun-Wei was struck and died at the scene.  The suspect stole cash, went to a nearby parking lot and fled the scene in a newer model, white sport utility vehicle, driving westbound on Griggs.

Further investigation identified Jackson as the suspected shooter in this case and, on Tuesday (Nov. 5), he was arrested without incident.
