In yet another startling confession of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, he recently admitted during the city council meeting today that he has purchased illegal drugs in the past two years. The city council has convened to debate over a motion pressuring on the Mayor to take a leave of absence to deal with personal problems

The councilor who tabled the motion seeking Ford’s leave, apology and him co-operating with police, Coun. Denzil Minnan-Wong, questioned him during the debate, asking “do you have zero tolerance of guns, drugs and gangs?” To which the mayor replied, “Yes.” Again, Minnan-Wong questioned Ford, alleged that “have you purchased illegal drugs in the past two years?” After a long pause, Ford replied, “Yes I have.” He quickly elaborated that “I’m humiliated by it, but I can’t change the past,” adding that “all I can do is move on and that’s what I’m doing.” Later, the debate warmed up when Minnan-Wong accused Mayor Ford of standing in front of him in “a threatening way” as he told the council that “he stood very close to me in a threatening manner,” and “It was deliberate.” Minnan-Wong demanded an apology from the mayor, which resulted in shouting and prompted the chair to call a five-minute recess.

After the recess, Speaker Frances Nunziata instructed Ford to apologize, in response to which he stated that “I did not threaten him in any shape or form,” and later added that “he knows that. I asked him to take his seat. I have nothing to apologize for.”
