Limousine Collides with Group of Pedestrians
August 22nd – Vancouver Police are in the early stages of a collision investigation after a limousine struck a group of pedestrians in the 1000 block of Davie Street around 2:30 Sunday morning.
Multiple ambulances transported nine people from the scene to two Vancouver area hospitals. Most of the injured are suffering from bruises and abrasions and none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
The 1000 block of Davie Street is expected to be closed for several hours while the VPD Collision Investigation Unit gathers evidence and interviews witnesses.
At this early stage in the investigation it is believed that an altercation of some sort occurred outside the limousine before the vehicle went mobile and mounted the curb, striking the group of pedestrians. The limousine travelled for some distance eastbound along Davie St. before coming to rest.
The driver is cooperating with police and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
