In light of the recently filed sexually assault case by his assistant, Sen. Colin Kenny has announced to have resigned from the Liberal caucus. The latest scandal is yet another addition to an already long list of scandals that have risked even the existence of Senate, which is striving for public credibility as it recently suspended three senators as well. The allegations have placed the experienced senator at the centre of another investigation.
A report issued on Thursday, Pascale Brisson blamed 69-year-old Kenny of sexually harassing her during the time she worked in his office. She stated that “he said sexual comments at work and also invited me over to his house for a few drinks,” adding that “at that moment, I asked if it was related to work. He said he just wanted to get to know me. So, I refused the invitation.” In a separate televised interview, she alleged that the senator often asked her to wear high-heeled shoes in the office and put his hand on her waist when they were meeting alone. She alleged that “I didn’t really feel comfortable at the time with such things, so I would just take a step back and continue the conversation.”
Upon inquiry by several media outlets, Kenny refused to comment on the allegations asserting that “there is a process in place in the Senate dealing with the allegations that prohibits me and anyone else involved from making any comment.” He said that “all I can say is at the end of the day I expect to be vindicated.”
Hmmmm.let’s see,been there since the Trudeau days,the 80’s at a salary of 1/4 mil a year,bored and feeling unvincable. good to see the mighty challenged but never convicted.Only in Canada !!!
