Ajax boy Liban Omar charged with first degree murder

On Saturday, September 8, 2012, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police responded to a call for a shooting on Fawcett Trail.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, it was alleged that:

– shortly after Abdulaziz Farah’s death, the suspect drove the victim’s car away from the scene

– the car was recovered in Scarborough the next day

On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, Liban Omar, then 18, of Ajax, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1) First-Degree murder

It is further alleged that:

– the victim and the suspect were known to each other

– the suspect drove the victim’s car to a location in Ajax and became stuck in mud

– the car was freed, possibly with the assistance of a tow truck

On Saturday, November 23, 2013, investigators conducted a ground search in Ajax. The area is approximately eight acres of partially developed land, east of Harwood Avenue, south of Rossland Road.
