New-York bound Amtrak Train carrying 218 passengers derailed overnight in South Carolina. There were four people who faced minor injuries said a fire official informed.

Tony Barnett, Spartanburg County Deputy Fire Marshal, informed that seven of the nine cars of the Amtrak 20 derailed as it reached South Carolina from New Orleans. The incident took place at 12:10 a.m. this Monday morning about six miles south of Spartanburg, informed Barnett. He further notified that the train was fully equipped with food and drinks and was travelling on full power. Those injured were taken to the hospital whereas the rest of the passengers including eleven crew members will be bused from South Carolina.

There was an investigation conducted by Amtrak and Norfolk Southern as well as by the Federal Railroad Administration. The cars remained upright as well as the two disabled locomotives of the train. A train passenger Carrie Lambert said she was at the back of the train when she suddenly felt it sway and then tilt to one side. ‘The car felt like it was about to flip over … I was holding on to my brother for dear life,’ said Carrie Lambert from Atlanta, ‘Bags went everywhere. It was crazy. Really scary.’
