In retaliation to Premier Wynne having had scheduled a meeting with Toronto’s Deputy Mayor, Norm  Kelly, at the Ontario legislature at around noon to discuss city business, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has alleged that the Premier ‘s meeting is inappropriate. The meeting noticeably marks the first official representing of the Deputy Mayor on behalf of the Mayor, with the premier, since he was stripped from most of his mayoral duties.

Elected Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, has lost almost all of his mayoral duties to the Deputy Mayor in light of several controversies, including his confession having had smoked crack cocaine and the release of a video showing him in a “drunken stupor.” In an official letter addressed to Premier Wynne, Mayor Ford stated that the premier should be meeting with him. He stated that “I believe that it would be most appropriate for you to meet with the elected Mayor of Toronto on these matters, which affect our city as a whole.”

On other hand, the Mayor’s brother and Councilor, Doug Ford, made more harshly worded remarks when he alleged that the meeting will be taking place between “two unelected officials” and reiterating that “380,000 voted for Rob.” Doug alleged that “we’ve got to focus on a lot of areas. No. 1 is the funding cuts the province has done, especially on the most vulnerable people in society, on the community housing that they did.” He added that “we’ve got to talk transit. There’s a lot of things we need to talk about with the premier and obviously she’s not interested in speaking to the democratically elected mayor of the city.”
