A thirty year old man was killed outside the Mall at Short Hills after his car was hijacked. The Christmas evening turned out to be a nightmare for the Hudson County couple who went shopping at an upscale New Jersey mall and had parked their Range Rover at a parking deck in the mall. The man was fatally shot in the head upon his return.

Police said there were two assailants who fled in the stolen car. It was a 2012 silver Range Rover with a New Jersey license plate of U26 BVD. Police believe the assailants headed east towards Route 24. The wife of the victim was taken to hospital though she was not injured according to the Essex County prosecutor, Carolyn Murray. The Hudson County resident was pronounced dead at 11:45, Sunday night, at the Morristown Medical Centre. Murray further informed that the shooting occurred around 9:10 p.m. after the husband had opened the car door for his wife and was about to get seated at the drivers side of the car.

‘We do not know why that car, but it obviously was a car with some value,’ said Murray. The mall which usually closes early on Sundays was open for extended hours due to the approaching holiday season. The workers at the mall were unaware of the incident though they admitted that the news completely shocked them. ‘This is the first time anything has happened like this since I’ve worked here,’ said Ajja Goods who works at Micheal Kors.
