On July 29th, 2004 a home invasion robbery took place at 4 Grosvenor Ave in the City of Hamilton, this was the home of John Paul Page.

During the robbery, Page was assaulted and stabbed to death.  Later that evening one of the suspects used Page’s bank card at two downtown Hamilton ATM machines.

Although all leads were exhausted in the original investigation the Homicide Unit continued to investigate.  In December 2012, 7 Detectives were assigned to the case full time and have worked tirelessly to bring the person or persons responsible for this murder to justice.

The investigation involved the utilization of a number of investigative techniques.  This included consultation of experts at the Center of Forensic Science and Cybergenics, a private DNA lab in Pittsburgh PA.

Early this morning and after 9 1/2 years, Hamilton Police arrested 37-year-old Richard Bennett of Hamilton.  Bennett will appear in court this afternoon where he will be formally charged with the first degree murder of John Paul Page.
