On September 2, 2012, at 2:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Burrows Avenue and Main Street regarding suspicious circumstances.

Attending officers confirmed that a body had been located and the deceased was identified as 23 year-old, Simone Sanderson.

Sanderson was wearing a black sports bra and a pink skort when she was located.

Despite on-going efforts, investigators have not identified or arrested the person(s) responsible for Simone’s death.

Investigators are taking this opportunity to release additional information with the hopes that anyone that has not already spoken with police will come forward.

Sanderson was last seen alive during the evening hours of August 26, 2012.  She had been involved in the sex trade and regularly used illicit drugs.  She was known to frequent the area where her body was found in a vacant lot at the intersection of Burrows Avenue and Main Street.

It is believed Sanderson utilized social media platforms to make contact with potential sex trade clients.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit are continuing with this investigation.
