At approximately 3:45 PM on September 5, 2010, the District 5 RCMP, Baie-Saint-Anne Detachment, was called to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger van.

A 20-year-old Napan man was travelling East on the Searle Road in Napan, Northumberland County, N.B. when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a passenger van that crossed his path.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Miramichi Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries. He was later airlifted to the Moncton City Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the passenger van, a 52-year-old Miramichi man was not injured.

An RCMP re-constructionist was on scene investigating the collision. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
