The parents of a Terrace teenager who was murdered in late 2012 claim to have finally received closure and felt relief after hearing the news of an arrest in their daughter’s murder case. 16-year-old C.J. Fowler was found dead on Dec. 5, 2012, just off a roadway in a ravine near Guerin Creek, just west of downtown Kamloops. During a news conference by Kamloops RCMP, Glen Wilson stated that “when we were told, me and Matilda actually both sighed at the same time – a sigh of relief, happiness.”

C. J.’s parents were visiting Kamloops this weekend to visit the location where their daughter’s body was found when they heard the surprising news of an arrest from police. Wilson mentioned that “Matilda actually wanted to jump, dance and scream, but she was afraid that the camera was going, the microphone was going in the room” at the Kamloops RCMP detachment where they got the news. He alleged that the arrest has come after almost 13 months of prayer for some closure. He mentioned that “we prayed day and night, before we went to bed and before we got up in the morning,” he said. “Our prayers and thoughts have been answered. We’re just so overwhelmed at the work the Kamloops RCMP has done.”

22-year-old boyfriend of C.J., Damien Lawrence Taylor, has been charged with one count of murder. Taylor and C.J. both belonged to the Terrace area and had travelled to Kamloops to meet friends.
